Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan made a controversial call this week. With has team down to the Detroit Lions, needing a touchdown to win the game with 2:00 left, Shanahan chose to bench his starting quarterback. Donovan McNabb was having a rough day, so in came Rex Grossman, who dropped to pass on his first play, and promptly fumbled the football, resulting in a Detroit defensive touchdown, wrapping up the game. When Shanahan was asked why he benched McNabb, he said, ''I thought that was the best scenario for us to win.'' So we now have a quarterback controversy in Washington after the Skins gave up draft picks to division rival Philadelphia to get McNabb, he is being pulled from meaningful moments. Read about the game
here. So what do you think, should McNabb be the starter, or is this Rex Grossman's team now?
I think it is McNabb's team. It was not a good choice for Shanahan to put in Grossman, especially since he fumbled. That clearly made it open for McNabb.
ReplyDeleteThat is just Mike Shanahan's way of coaching! He is a coach who is going to do everything in his control to help his team win. He takes chances... he wins some, and loses some. Being a Broncos fan, I saw this a lot. In fact, I wish we still had Shanahan because of his coaching style. I think it is still McNabb's team, but he has to perform to keep the job.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Rex Grossman should be allowed to touch a football on the sideline, let alone be put in for a quality qb like McNabb.
